Jack was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and spent the first 20 years of his life in Lexington and nearby Richmond. He graduated from Madison High and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He moved to Texas in 1961 and is now a Texan by choice.
After 28 years with IBM, working at the Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas, Jack took their early retirement severance offer in 1992. Among the highlights of his IBM career: He was on duty at the Mission Control Center computer room when Borman, Lovell & Anders first circled the moon aboard Apollo 8 during Christmas, 1968 and again on July 20, 1969, when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon.
He has worked as a programmer-contractor since leaving IBM. As a contractor, he has worked on projects in Tampa, Boston, Hartford and Austin. He currently works part time at the First National Bank, Bastrop, TX.
For fun, Jack enjoys woodworking, stained glass, photography and traveling. His stained glass hobby has produced some of the items for their new home, including a dining room chandelier and panels for kitchen cabinets. His woodworking hobby has resulted in a deck off the master bedroom, another larger, split level deck off the living area, a quilt hutch and a sewing center.
Jack also has an interest in model railroads. He has started an O guage layout of the Furball Railroad in the bonus room over the garage. He and his chief engineer, Ms Kitty, enjoy playing choo-choo.
